Burning Tips
Always trim your wick! Keep your wick to 0.3cm at all times. A wick
which is longer than this will 'mushroom' and create black smoke.
By trimming your wick you will ensure you have a cleaner and more
even burn.
To burn a jar candle effectively
and evenly, and to avoid 'tunneling' where a lot of the wax is left
around the jar, burn the candle until the wax pool reaches the edge
of the jar: so the top layer has completely melted. This is when the
fragrance is at its maximum efficiency creating the best impact. For
Yankee Candle we suggest leaving a candle burning for at least 3 hours
before blowing it out. If you need an instant fragrance for a short
period of time, use Reed Diffusers or Plug Ins.
By using a shade on your
candle jar you will protect the flame from disturbances in the air
(such as people walking into the room) and ensure you have a cleaner
burn.
If you wish to change a
fragrance but have wax left in a votive holder, simply place the holder
in a freezer for a few hours to harden the wax and it will pop out
into your hand.
You can create your very
own fragrance and ambience by 'layering' home fragrances. Lighter
fragrances, such as florals, will sit higher in the air while heavier
fragrances, such as food and spice, sill sit lower. By mixing fragrances
you can create different effects and your own, personal home fragrance.
You can also layer the
home fragrance products you use. For example, leave a fresh Reed Diffuser
in a room throughout the day for a welcoming home after a long day
at work and in the evening layering over the top with a floral candle
for relaxation.
